Average-sized woman discovered lodged between Westridge homes.
“Nothing can prepare you for the boredom,” said Elizabeth Watley. “I could hardly move my arms and I couldn’t touch my phone."
Watley, 38 years old, was walking to Costco, as she does every Saturday morning, when she became stuck between two Westridge homes.
“Thankfully I could see the neighbours' TV through their basement window. Tiger King was playing; I’ve already seen it, but it was better than nothing.”
Her husband, Ben, spent 5 minutes mowing the lawn that morning and hadn’t realized his wife was missing.
“I usually mow the lawn in 4 minutes, but I had to move our new Kayaks out of the garage so I could plug in our Lawn Master 2000. Moving all of that stuff around made me tired, so I went inside to cool off.”
When asked about the incident, a neighbour said they had heard “muffled yelling” but figured it was “those Lakehead University Students and their stupid video games.”
Another neighbour, one of 7 students living in the 3 bedroom house, claimed they couldn’t hear anything but the sound of victory as they pwned noobs in an epic game of COD.
“These $400 headphones are completely immersive. I didn’t hear the lady”, he said.
Watley was wearing a beige dress which blended in with the vinyl siding.
“I thought I was going to die, stuck between 46 and 48 Isabella ave. I kept smelling Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Latte’s from across the road, so that was hard too.”
After what Watley estimated to be 3 hours, it started to rain.
Luckily, her dress turned a darker colour and caught the attention of a 2-year-old girl in a stroller. Her mom looked up to see Wet Watley and phoned 911 from a distance.
“I don’t like to approach strangers when I’m with my baby” the anonymous woman told us.
After a quick medical checkup, Watley was given aspirin and told to lay down.
“You never think these things will happen to you,” she said, “but then they do, and you’re forced to stay there and not move. It’s awful. I felt so helpless. I’m definitely not going for another walk anytime soon.”
